ConnectRichmond Online Forum
ConnectRichmond’s Online Forum is another way for people in our community to connect, share ideas and seek advice on a wide range of topics. Below is more information on how to get started and how to use the Online Forum.
How to Get Started
You must log in to your ConnectRichmond personal profile to post or reply to messages in the Online Forum. If you don’t have a personal profile, it’s free and easy to create one. Click here for more information. Once you’ve logged on, select “Online Forum” under the “Tools” tab on the ConnectRichmond home page.
How to Start a New Topic
After you link to the Online Forum (ConnectRichmond Home Page > Tools > Online Forum), select “Open Discussion”. You’ll see a box titled “Add New Topic”. After you select it, you can enter your topic in the “Subject” section. Below you’ll see a “Message” field where you can enter more information about your topic. Please note: if you would like to get email notifications after people respond to your Topic, please check the box next to “Click to subscribe to this forum” before you add a new topic.
How to Respond to a Topic
Once you’ve selected “Open Discussion” after logging in to ConnectRichmond, you can also respond to topics others have posted. To do so, simply click on the topic of interest, select the “Add Reply” link and type your reply in the “Message” field. Please note: if you would like to get email notifications when people respond to your reply, check the box next to “Click to subscribe to this forum” before you submit your reply.
How to Customize your Forum Profile
Once you are logged in and on the Online Forum page, click on “My Profile” in the top right inside the grey bar. This will take you to three tabs:
- About Me – Add information such as a link to your personal website or blog, occupation, interests, avatar (photo or image up to 100x100 pixels), and signature that will be automatically added to your postings. This information will be viewable by logged in Online Forum users.
- My Preferences – Allows you to customize how you see Online Forum postings, including sorting by oldest or newest, number of postings shown per page, automatically subscribing to topics where you have posted, etc.
- Forum Tracking – Allows you to receive updates when Online Forum postings are made by either email, Really Simple Syndication (RSS) or through your browser favorites.
