Email Group

Anyone can join or send a message to one of our email groups. Messages could include a new report you'd like to share, an item you'd like to give away, a nonprofit job opening or a community event. Please review our guidelines below.

Join An Email Group:

ConnectRichmond offers free email groups that enable nonprofits, government agencies and civic-minded individuals and businesses to share information and resources with one another. You can receive emails individually or in a "daily digest" format, and unsubscribe at any time.

Please note: Joining an email group does not register you on the ConnectRichmond website. You must click on "Register" in the upper right-hand corner and follow the instructions to register.

ConnectRichmond also recommends posting information on our Facebook page and on Twitter. When you post on Twitter and use the hashtag #connectrva for all things Richmond community.

Trollers: If you notice inappropriate activity on the email group by those selling a service, please notify us immediately.

To Send a Message to An Email Group:

  • Address your email to the email group(s) you wish to write (ex: connectrichmond@connectnetwork.org)
  • Include a descriptive phrase in the subject line. Example: “New Local Environment Guide” or "Free computers" - Do not use All-Caps
  • Provide contact information, including your first and last name, affiliation, and phone number or email
  • If you're giving away items and need a receipt for tax purposes, make it clear that these are items you want to donate to an established 501c3 nonprofit.

The following steps are required if your message includes a: 

  • job posting, first add it to the Job Finder 
  • date or deadline, first add it to the Calendar 
  • registration or admission fee, state the organization that will benefit from the proceeds 

Please make sure you also include the ConnectRichmond URL link to your job or event in the body of your email message.

Prohibited Messages: 

  • “Please Post,” “FW,” “RE,” or similar text  
  • Attachments 
  • Subject lines in All-Caps
  • HTML text
  • Two or more fee-based opportunities per month    
  • Volunteer needs (instead, please see our Volunteer page) 
  • Items needed (instead, please see Items Needed
  • Press releases and newsletters 
  • Advertisements for for-profit products and services
  • Requests from job seekers (instead, please see Job Finder
  • Requests for donations 
  • Repeat messages about the same or similar topics 
  • Inflammatory language
  • We reserve the right to reject any posts

    Please note:
    ConnectRichmond cannot edit messages. Messages that do not meet guidelines will be returned to the sender with editing suggestions.
